Charise Fong has deep experience with people-based strategies and cross-sector collaborations. She has been part of the EBALDC team for twelve years. As Chief Operating Officer, Charise directly oversees Property Management, Commercial Real Estate, Neighborhood Collaborations, Neighborhood and Economic Development, Human Resources/Administration, and Impact Evaluation. She was a co-founder of the SparkPoint Oakland financial services collaborative. She is also one of the primary architects of EBALDC’s Healthy Neighborhoods strategy, and currently oversees EBALDC’s Healthy Neighborhoods collective impact initiatives in two neighborhoods in Oakland.
Charise started her career as a litigation attorney in Los Angeles. She transitioned into the nonprofit sector to do civil rights and immigration policy advocacy and community organizing at CAA in San Francisco, and then served as Program Director at Mission Hiring Hall/South of Market Employment Center. Charise also currently serves on the Oakland Thrives Leadership Council whose focus is to guide a city and county wide collective impact initiative focused on health and wellbeing for Oakland and Alameda County. Charise holds a BA in history (with specialization in Economics) from the University of California, Los Angeles and a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
