David Cleghorn serves as the Chief Housing Officer and oversees the permanent housing development and operations for HELP USA. This includes management of the pre-development process, financing and construction and long-term asset management and building operations. Additionally he is a key member of the Central Leadership Team at HELP USA as a member of the “C-Suite”, participating in ongoing organizational planning and strategy, and has been integral in the organization’s expansion through developments for LGBT seniors in the Bronx, and veterans and family housing in Philadelphia, Buffalo, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New York City. David has a strong background in community-based real estate development, with a focus on affordable housing. Prior to HELP USA, he served for five years as Vice President of Development at Diamond & Associates in Philadelphia, developing over 900 units of affordable housing. He has also served as Real Estate Development Director for New Kensington CDC in Pennsylvania and Community Real Estate Developer at Project H.O.M.E. in Pennsylvania, among other positions in Baltimore and Indiana. He has a Masters of Public Administration from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University, and received his bachelor’s degree from Earlham College.
