Nathanial Owen serves as the Director of Fondo Adelante, the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) arm of Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) in San Francisco. Since joining MEDA in July 2014, his roles have also included serving as Community Loan Fund Director and Associate Director of Asset Building Programs. In his time at MEDA, Owen has led the launch of the organization’s new CDFI, which is a microlender, small business lender, and newly-minted real estate lender for affordable housing. Since its inception in October 2015, the CDFI has disbursed over 85 loans and nearly $2.5 million to San Francisco Bay Area entrepreneurs. Previously, he served as the Tennessee Market Manager for Accion Texas Inc. (now Lift Fund), the nation’s largest microlender, where he led Accion’s expansion into Tennessee and Kentucky. Owen is a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where he received a B.S. in Church Ministries. He has completed coursework for a Master of Public Service program at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. He is a native of Sherwood, Arkansas.
